League Philosophy: RELAX! it's just a game, play safe and have fun!
The OBHL is committed to running a league that is safe, fun, competitive and fair. The league trusts its officials to do there best to uphold the rules of the game at standards approved by the CBHA.
Players that behave unacceptably will be suspended from play. Players that cross the line and make the league unsafe for others will be permanently suspended or suspended for a great length of time.
Also any players that are not here for a good time and are being continuously disruptive or disrespectful to the league and staff will be suspended and/or banned.
Below are the minimum suspension guidelines.
All suspensions carry over to a players next season of play.

If a player gets ejected or if there is an incident at the end of the game, it is the players responsibility to check with there team rep to see if they are suspended before their next game. Team Reps are then to enquire about any incidents.
Minimum Suspensions:
- 3 minor penalties in a game -- game ejection
- 3 game ejections in a season -- suspended for rest or season or minimum of 5 games
- Verbal abuse of an official or staff -- 1 game minimum + $20 player fine
- Attempt to injure -- 3 games minimum
- Excessive Roughing -- 1 game minimum
- Fighting -- 5 games minimum, 2nd Fight -- Banned
- Checking from behind -- 2 game minimum
- Major Penalties -- 1 game minimum
- Littering -- indefinite
- Vandalism -- indefinite
- Head Butt -- 3 games minimum
- Head Shots -- 2 games minimum
- Physical abuse of an official or staff -- Banned
- Breaking floor tile out of frustration -- Immediate ejection + $20 player fine once paid player can rejoin the team + a minor penalty may be assesed at the descretion of the official
House Rules and League Guidelines:
- Feedback policy: Players must report any issues to their team rep then their team rep will contact the league in writing by filling out a feedback forms that are in the office or the team rep can send their concerns in email format to info@outdoorballhockey.com
- Teams must wait for other teams to clear the rink before entering the rink, especially after a youth game.
- Ejected players must leave the premisis if they are ejected for fighting, verbal abuse of an official, or any other Gross Misconducts.br />
- Adult players are responsible for
their own jerseys, gloves and sticks. A same base color jersey and a unique number is the minimum requirements to play.
- The league has pinnies to rent for a teams that don't have the proper wear at $5/game. Pinnies are lent out for free to the visiting team if 2 teams are same color.
- Each team must provide 3 clean league approved balls before each game to be used during the game, the league has balls for sale.
- No smoking within 10 meters of rink. Please refrain from smoking near the rink.
- Offensive players who dig into the goalie after a whistle will result in moving the face off to the outside of zone, and loss of zone occurs. Or if goalie has the ball clearly covered and players take an unsportsmanlike attempts towards the ball will also result in moving the face off to the outside of zone, and loss of zone occurs.
- Ball shot directly out of rink at fence height(12’ high) from the defensive player inside their blue line will result in a delay of game penalty
- Teams who leave excessive litter on the player benches will be receive a bench minor penalty for the start of their next game.
- Stick infractions are 2 minute minor penalties.
- No sliding. Sliding will result in a minor penalty.
- High sticking the ball with or without contact is a penalty. A high stick is considered to be the normal height of the players shoulders (at the discretion of the referee). In plays resulting in a goal the stick and contact of the ball must be below the cross bar.
Player and Team Fines:
- Verbal abuse towards OBHL staff is prohibited. Players who verbally abuse OBHL staff will be fined a minimum of $20.00 player fine.
- Littering is strictly prohibited and it is illegal in the Conservation Area. Teams who leave litter on the player benches will be receive a bench minor penalty for the start of their next game. Teams need to report any litter found on the benches to OBHL staff immediately. Please put all trash in the cans provided. Any teams found littering ourtside of the rink are subject to a $50.00 team fine.
- Breaking a floor tile with your stick will result in a $20 team fine.
- Players are not allowed to hit their sticks on the boards with excessive force. If players hit the boards with force a 2 minute minor penalty may be assessed at the discretion of the referee. Should your team wish to express their excitement over a goal, use the INSIDE of boards of the player benches only.
- Tapping the sports court with excessive force when calling for a pass may break the floor tile which will result in $20 fine.
